Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Do you accept Credit Cards?
A: Unfortunately, we do not accept credit cards at this time.
Q: Who does the clean up?
A: Our team of workers do the daily cleanup. We will not interrupt your lifestyle in any way such as: leaving tools and equipment lying around your house and yard.
We vacuum all carpeting and sweep all floors where work is performed upon completion.
Q: What kind of supervision can I expect?
A: There is a daily supervision of your job. Our main goal is to get the job done to your satisfaction. We have complete knowledge of your project and are sensitive to your needs.
Q: Is there a warranty?
A: Sweet Home Improvements, Inc. warrants that its performance shall be free of defects in workmanship. Sweet Home Improvements warrants labor for 2 years, but is subject to change according to the job such as painting, carpentry, and tiles. All other warranties given by Sweet Home Improvements, Inc. shall be for two (2) years after the date of the signed contract. Sweet Home Improvements, Inc. disclaims all other material warranties expressed or implied.
The warranty excludes and in no event will be responsible or consequential of incidental damages caused by accident or abuse, temperature changes, settlement or moisture; i.e., cracks cause by expansion and/or contraction.
If for any reason there is a failure in our labor, we will return promptly to correct.
Q: Will I have to wait long for an Estimate?
A: Estimates are scheduled Monday - Friday in one hour time frames so you do not have to wait all day.
Q: Is the price negotiable?
A: We prepare your detailed project estimate according to your needs. That is why we meet with you and review thoroughly the scope of your project. Our price includes all the elements necessary to ensure your project runs smoothly and timely. Our owner is involved throughout the entire process - from helping you select the right materials and finishes and being accessible at all times to answer your questions or concerns, to a final walkthrough of the finished project. Our priority is ensuring you are comfortable and informed throughout the entire process.
If you still feel our price too high, we urge you to think carefully about using the lowest bidder for your work. The lowest price may mean a bargain, but sometimes it may mean lower quality materials, less insurance coverage, which may put you at risk, and lower levels of craftsmanship. Be sure you select your contractor according to their consistent and positive reputation, high-quality portfolio of work, and solid and safe construction practices. We are happy to provide you with references to assure you our estimate will include these elements, delivered with friendly, professional service. We will return if there is a failure in our labor.
Q: How long before I receive my written estimate?
A: You will receive a detailed accurate proposal within a few days if the initial estimate. Unfortunately we do not believe in writing estimates on site; it is not always efficient in price and not very well written. All details are documented for both parties’s understanding.
Q: How long will it take to complete the job?
A: Once your project is started, we will show up everyday until it is complete, with the exception of rain and snow. We will not start your job and leave you hanging;
We work five days a week, nine hours a day to get the job done.
Q: Can I supply my own paint?
A: Yes, when you supply your own materials there is a small fee to cover the cost of additional materials such as: primer, caulk, putty, etc.
Sweet Home Improvements, Inc. reserve the right to void the entire guarantee if, in our opinion, the paint supplied is not of superior quality. When you supply the materials, you are responsible for picking up the paint in sufficient quantities prior to the job to ensure that the crew does not run out of supplies.
The customer who supplies his own paint is also responsible to supply paint for any guarantee work to be provided. Generally, it’s not recommended to have the costumer provide materials, if there is a shortage we will provide the materials needed at an additional charge.
Q: What type of paints do you use?
A: We use only the best materials available and choose the best brand that we feel will give you the longest lasting paint job. Some of the quality brands we use are Benjamin Moore, Muralo, Sherwin Williams and Pittsburgh.
Q: Are you affiliated with any Associations?
A: Yes, we are an active member of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, Chicago Gay & Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry), PDCA (Painting and Decorating Contractor of America) and Better Business Bureau.
